Margaret Kilgallen

Here is the page I have done in my sketch book about Margaret Kilgallen.

Kilgallen was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up nearby in Kensington, Maryland. She received a BA in printmaking from Colorado College in 1989 and an MFA from Stanford University in 2001.

1. Margaret Kilgallen's art is influenced by both American and non-Western folk traditions.

2. She was creative and used discarded materials or donated paint substances.

3. Her work has almost always been done on-site, drawing large letters completely by hand using house paint rollers.

4. She displayed her work in galleries,

Kilgallen died in 2001, at age 33, from complications of breast cancer

Evaluation Of Artist:

I like her art work because it stands out and how she captures the art of the female and male body perception. I like how she used her choice of colour and shapes and styled themes. My favorite art of hers would be capturing feminine beauty in cartoonist style and the particular social groups she projects in her work and choice of feminine beauty.

Here is some of her art work I enjoy,

This artistic picture makes me feel its trying to capture freedom to do something you believe in strongly.

I like the use of colour and detail.

This picture has a more powerful image of the feminine portrait, I think the smoke from her her breath hows the disguised emotion and softness she naturally has.

Same with this image I think that it has the dominant approach from the females perspective. The use of colour suggest this behavior and the clothing the figure is wearing. The way the artist has framed the person and the structure of her positioning of her body shows her type of personality.

Compared to this picture, The stereo typical feminine side is conveyed through the character in the picture shopping and perhaps maybe walking in a car park to journey home. It used nice colours and stands out bold.

In reflection I think that Maragert Kilgallen work is inspireing and has inspired many people from her artistic skills. Her work stands out to me and she had published her work nicely.
