This was a class demo to show how our group animations would look like:
L3 ANIMATION LOOP CLASS DEMO from cmdiploma on Vimeo.
Check Point
Beautiful Losers: I have researched into beautiful losers and have researched some information on a specific artist. I researched into Margaret Kilgallen and I created a page of work about her in my sketch book.
I have researched into the medium video art and how it has changed over the years due to technology and new media having affect on artist in modern days.
Animation Flip Book: Research in how to create a flip book animation, we looked at some animation artist such as Blu, Lemon Jelly and jan Svankmajer.
I researched into Experimental and underground Films: Colour Box, Dog Star Man, Scorpio Rising, big shave, Fuzz Box, Berlin horse.
Explore and experiment/Make: My own creativity with the short animation I did drawing under eighty pages.
What are you pleased with and why? I am pleased with how the animation had turned out of the green pea and my animation booklet jelly foot character.
What could you have done differently? I would have used colour in my experimental animation booklet see how effective it would have of looked.
What you plan to do next? I plan to buy props: Dominoes, spray paint, fake snow, and card, and spray paint them and to create an artistic picture using the props as an experiment for the risk project but if it does not work then me and my partner will have to come up with another idea for the risk project. (experimenting tests)
Experimental and Underground cinema
I have chosen to look at this short film Dog Star Man because i found it interesting and wanted to explore about the creator and why they chose to make such a complicated film to understand and what the actual plot was meant to be projecting through all the effects.
It was created through images being inserted into holes punched in successive frames of the film to produce a kinda of collage effect. Also when Stan Brakhage was acting the role of the male character his wife took over to film.
The main character was acted by the Stan Brakhage who is also the creator of the film Dog Star Man. He won an American non narrative film maker who is considered to be one of the most important figures 20th century experimental films. He also taught the creators of South Park and director of Ants.References of info:Wikipedi.org/wiki/stan-brakhage
Here were some of the short films we looked at:
The Colour Box I liked this short film it showsa the contrast of the colours and the patterns are really effective, I like the music because it gets me into the groove.
The Big Shave I found this short film really disturbing however It was this feeling of being uncomfortable but in away made me laugh in shock. It gave such a weird reaction from me and the other class mates.
Malcolm Le Grice - Berlin Horse [1970]
This short film was continous and maybe was bit to long but I enjoyed how it reflect the beauty of the horse it made me think of two words, Rainbow and spirit because the transition effect of the horse with a distant fade of its figure following behind like a ghostly spirit.

Class Reflection
1. Cause injury to yourself or others.
2. Cause risk to others around.
3. Stops you doing things.
In what way can risks be positive?
1. You can learn from your mistakes and teach others and to aware them.
2. Awareness levels increase and you become more dependant and learnt to driect the dangers in your life.
What do you think creative risk is?
Maybe painting a portrait and your audience may not be attracted or you may adjust the picture and make it less viewable in interest.
This helped me to reflect from the short briefed opinion about the plan for the risk idea and helped me to reflect it to be a possible idea.
My ideas for the Risk Project
Outline of plan 1:
To use Dominoes and to position them in a line and to knock them over to create a pattern or a artistic themed art piece.
Props: Because it is closer to the chritmas festive season I thought of this to be an opportunity to theme it on christmas.
Props: To spray paint the dominoes
To use a pack of cards sparkly gold, red, silver and maybe (fake snow spray can)
Risk 1: Experimental Risk and the target audience may not expect that type of video or like the idea at all.
Outline of Plan 2:
To stack cards up as a tower.
Props: spray paint the cards.
Risk:Risk: Experimental Risk and the target audience may not expect that type of video or like our project.

Animation Booklet
another character. The mouth drops down to make a jelly foot, then the eyes pop above the characters head like an insect. It slurps along and the sun launches a missile at the character then it explodes into particles of stars.
These are some different stages of my character:
Spider Diagram
I made a Spider Diagram of what I thought about:
This exercise has helped to recognize how a risk can have many effects.

music by Andrea Martignoni
produced by Mercurio Film
assistant: Sibe
I like his other art work aswell it has the drawing effect with no fill of the body figure which I think works effecitively. The story plot ifor his art work is also interesting. I like how it is repetitive and works really well.

Mood Board about Risk
Here is the mood board:
Print Screen of the mood board in the program photoshop:
After the mood board we then was to open the images into final cut express and create a entertaining show of the images about risk.
I thought a slide show would of worked well, but the images could of become a bore so I redid it again and over lapped some of the images over the others to give it more presentation and quicker paste. I then created a sound track in Garage Band but only added it to the first slide show rough cut and not the second final.
Christmas Cards/ E Cards
For the christmas card design I have chosen these images of christmas card designs for inspiration because I think they are suitable for a range or different target audiences.
I like the decoration on this christmas card however I think it would be to difficult to design something like this for E Cards.
I like this card because it is colourful and appeals to a adult audience, its plain and colourful and does not reflect the whole xmas festive season.
I researched into some Ecards on youtube and watching through these gave me a clearer understanding of what I themes people use when designing their E Cards.

Flip Book Animation Exercise
Here was a diagram to help us to practice the flip book task. It shows a ball being dropped from a height and having flexibility in uts shape. So I created one myself using post it notes. I used the same template that the diagram shows.
I tired my own version of the ball falling on post it notes. Then when I flipped the pages the ball succesfully had motion.
Guideline of the balls movement direction.
In todays lesson we had to create a character and then draw them on paper each page by page (such as we tried an example with post it notes flipping the pages and making the motion of the ball. Here is my character above it is meant to be a female shadow who has scissors as her legs, the cloud above is meant to rain flowers (the puddle on the floor is evaporates then transports it self through time and rains again through the cloud, although it is raining flowers which cover the figure of the woman and strip her identity from shadow to.
Using a background from Google I have choosen the comic card design, and then located in to dominoes and cards that I was thinkinbg about doing for the project risk about inspired my domino day but I havent really thought about this further.
Here is a print screen of photo shop I took while editing the timeline and making it look nice and presentable. I wanted to make it stand out with white text on a black background I think thsi works really well.
I was playing around with the paint bucket and the colours and by mistake I selected white paint which coloured in the background this is what I looked like. I thought it looked nice at first but with advice from my partner for this project she said it didnt work so well as the black backlground.
Here is the first part of the timeline because the timeline has to much information I wanted to include so I had to create two timelines .
This is the second part of the timeline
I am really pleased with my timeline I think it is attractive and I like the visuals, although I think that some of the text is not vissible to see.
Time Line Research
I have been researching on youtube, wiki pedi, and google.
Also in my free period I went to the library and looked at a book about abstract art. I also Looked at a book called Digital Art Author is Christiane Paul.
Born in Seoul, Paik had four older brothers and a father who worked as a textile manufacturer. As he was growing up, he was trained as a classical pianist. In 1950, Paik and his family had to flee from their home in Korea, during the Korean War. His family first fled to Hong Kong, but later moved to Japan, for reasons unknown. Six years later he graduated from the University of Tokyo where he wrote a thesis on the composer Arnold Schoenberg.
Paik then moved to Germany to study the history of music at Munich University. While studying in Germany, Paik met the composers Karlheinz Stockhausen and John Cage and the conceptual artists Joseph Beuys and Wolf Vostell who inspired him to work in the field of electronic art.[3]
His influence: John Milton Cage Jr. (September 5, 1912 – August 12, 1992) was an American composer, philosopher, poet, music theorist, artist, printmaker.
In the late 1960s video technology became available outside the broadcast industry and artists were among the first to use this unique new medium.
How has modern technology change video art:
experimental films that use video art to express their visuals.
1. Colour box made in 1935 by Malcolm Le Grice
2. Dog star man made in 1961 by Stan Brakhage born 1935
3. Scorpio rising made in 1964 by Kenneth Anger
4. big shave made in
5. fuzz box
6. berlin horse
